W.L.Brooks, Pioneer, Is Dead
Douglas Budget - January 18, 1923William Luther Brooks, aged 73 years and long a resident of this state, died at his home in Douglas last Saturday morning. He had been in ill health for a long time.
Mr. Brooks was a resident of this county since 1888, when he located at Manville. In 1901 he purchased a ranch near Douglas, upon which he lived two years, coming then to Douglas, which had since been hi home.
He was born near Peoria, Ill., March 1, 1850. On February 1, 1872, he was married to Miss Sarah Noble at Galva, Ill. They moved from Illinois to Kansas and resided in that state for a number of years before coming to Wyoming.
Mr. Brooks is survived by his wife and three sons, Frank of Jireh, George and William of Colorado. He is also survived by two brothers, C.H. Brooks of Galva, Ill., and D.H.Brooks of Creston, Ia.
Funeral services were held from the Methodist church, of which the deceased had been an active member for thirty years, at 2:30 o'clock on Tuesday afternoon, Rev. R.M. Jones conducting the services. Burial was in Douglas cemetery.
