Death of Elder Barrow

Barrow, for twenty-five years past state evangelist of the Christian church of Nebraska, died at 7:45 last night at his home in Bethany Heights, aged fifty-eight years. Deceased was born in Delaware county New York, August 18, 1832. It is said by those who have known him for many years that it is estimated he has been directly instrumental in the conversion to christianity of not less than 10,000 people, he has a record of about 7,000 baptisms. Sixteen years ago he was associated with Rev. Dungan,, now president of Cotner university, in Christian work, and since the establishment of that institution has made his headquarters at Bethany Heights.-State Journal.
The above announcement was received in this city with general sorrow. Elder Barrow twenty six-years ago became a resident of Johnson county and was for many years an enterprising and esteemed citizen of Tecumseh, the family removing to Lincoln one year ago. He was born in Delaware county, New York, in the year 1832. In his long and eventful service as a Christian minister Elder Barrow was recognized as an able and conscientious man and his good work earned him the regard of all who knew him. He leaves a wife, three sons and a daughter to mourn his departure and in their affection the bereaved family have earnest sympathy of this community. On Monday last the remains were brought to this city and interred in the Tecumseh cemetery. The business men, out of respect to the deceased, closed their stores from three to five o'clock in the afternoon of the day and attended the last sad rites of sepelture (sic). The Chieftain extends sympathy to the stricken family,-Tecumseh, Nebraska, Chieftain.
