Douglas Budget - May 2, 1935

Sydney F. Barry, aged 71 years, a resident of Wyoming since 1886, died at the Douglas Hospital Wednesday night. Pneumonia was the cause of his death.

Mr. Barry belonged to a prominent English family. He was born at Bromley in Kent, England, June 23, 1864. He was educated at Tumbridge Wells and Hatcham College and after leaving school was in a London mercantile house for several years. In 1886 he came to America and engaged in the cattle business with the Phillips Brothers under the firm name of Phillips Bros. & Barry. In 1900 he purchased a ranch on the Upper LaPrele, where he lived until his death.

Mr. Barry was held in high esteem by his neighbors and by all who knew him. A man of cultured tastes, he was honest and honorable in all his dealings and his passing is a matter of general regret.

He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Harold Parks of Salt Lake City, who with Mr. Parks, came to be with her father in his illness. He was a cousin of Sir Ronald Lindsay, British ambassador at Washington.
