Obituary

Bill Barlows Budget - November 20, 1907

Samuel G. Backus, for about three years a resident of Douglas, died at the home of his sister, Mrs. David McComb, on Wednesday last, in his 89th year. He had been ill for some time, and was ready to meet his maker. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon from the Methodist church, Revs. Young and Jones officiating, and the remains interred in Sunnyside cemetery. L.W. Clelland, E.W. Madison, J.H. Ruhl, Richard Doyle, W.L. Brooks and H.M. Jones were the pallbearers.

The deceased was born at Montrose, Pennsylvania, and was an Iowa pioneer-removing to Nebraska later and coming to Douglas from Washington in 1904. Many friends unite with the Budget in extending to the family their sincere sympathy.
