Douglas Budget - March 12, 2003Services for Arthur Eugene Berry Jr., 68, of Gillette were held March 11 at Stevenson Funeral Home Chapel in Gillette, with Pastor Orvil Holden of First Assembly of God Church officiating. Interment was at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.
Mr. Berry died at his home March 4 of natural of causes.
He was born Dec. 17, 1934, to Arthur and Mae(Lubin)Berry in Montrose, Colo. He was raised and educated in California. He served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict, on board the U.S.S. Boxer.
In 1949 Mr. Berry moved to Douglas, where he resided until he took a job with Jim's Water Service in 1968. Shortly after his employment with Jim's, he was transferred to Gillette.
He met and married Mary Jaramillo in Gillette. He remained employed with Jim's and worked in the oilfield 32 years until retiring in 2000.
Mr. Berry had two great loves. The first was his Harley motorcycle, Sturg, which he rode hundreds of thousands of miles in all weather with a six-foot flag recognizable to many. The second was being an avid cribbage player and spending many hours playing cards with his friends.
He is survived by daughter Claudia Berry; stepdaughters Chaeli Jaramillo and Lisa Mccue, all of Gillette; son Arthur Allen of Broadus, Mont.; brother Wesley Berry of Glendale, Ariz.; sister Wilma Dewey of Albuquerque, N.M.; and grandson James Berry of Gillette.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
