Douglas Budget - August 24, 1994Funeral services for Ferol Manning Baker, 86, were held on Monday, Aug. 22, at the Converse Funeral Chapel in Douglas.
Pastor Tim Tyler of Douglas Baptist Church officiated. Interment was in the Douglas Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Baker, a resident of Douglas, died Tuesday, Aug. 16, 1994, at her ranch home.
She was born June 8, 1908, in Marengo, Ind., to Edgar and Flossie (Temple) Manning. She moved to Wyoming in 1916 with her parents, and they homesteaded on Bear Creek.
She graduated from Douglas High School and attended the University of Wyoming in Laramie. She taught school at Boxelder, Lance Creek and Bear Creek areas.
She married Roy C. Baker in Sheridan on Jan. 2, 1942, and in 1944 bought a ranch on Brushy Creek north of Douglas. She lived there until her death.
Mrs. Baker was a member of the Farm Bureau, American Saler Association, Wyoming and National Cattlewomens Associations and Wyoming Stock Growers.
She enjoyed gardening, sewing, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by two children, Ed Baker and Kathy Blaylock, both of Douglas; five grandchildren, Rick Baker, Tim Baker, Ranae Layher and David Blaylock, Jr., all of Douglas, and Wendy Elliott of Glenrock; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on June 29, 1989; one son, David, in 1943; and two sisters, Georgie Berry and Lanore Middaugh.
Serving pallbearers are Jeff Reynolds, Jerry Miller, Warren Manning, Brent Hornbuckle, Richard Quay Hornbuckle and Kirk Hornbuckle.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are Clarence Richards, Frank Eathorne, Harry Richards, Dick Hornbuckle, Bill Vollman, Gene Hardy, Larry Blaylock, Robert Blaylock and all of her many other friends.
Memorials to the Ranchers' Memorial Scholarship Fund in care of the Converse County Bank, P.O. Box 689, would be appreciated by the family.
