Joseph H. Blakeney, aged 31 years, World War veteran, died Sunday at Fitzsimons hospital, Denver, where he had been under treatment for over two months. He had been ill for a long time, finally going to the Denver hospital.

Blakeney was a native of Nebraska, where he was born February 29, 1896. He served in the navy during the World War and upon his discharge in 1919 came to this county, taking up homestead near Esterbrook. He was in the employ of a number of ranchmen in the LaBonte district and was a young man who was highly respected by all who knew him.

He is survived by his mother, who resides in Missouri, and a brother living in Casper. Both of them will be here for the funeral.

Funeral services were held at the Hofmann Chapel this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Horace Mann. The arrangements are in charge of Mares Post of the American Legion, of which the deceased was a member. Burial will be in Douglas cemetery.
