Blakely, William (Unknown - April 15, 1912)

Blakely Perished in Storm

Bill Barlows Budget - April 17, 1912

William Blakely, a sheepherder, employed by C.D. Zimmerman, was found Monday morning within a half-mile of Chimney Rock and a half-mile from his wagon, frozen. He was missed Sunday and a party went in search for him. W.M. Snyder, mayor of Lost Springs, was a member of the searching party. He came to Douglas last night to make arrangements for the shipping of the body to Detroit, Michigan, where Blakely formerly made his home and where his wife now is.

Mr. Blakely was well-to-do financially and had come west for his health. From letters found on him his family was located and ordered his body to be embalmed and shipped at once. Mr. Hofmann went to Lost Springs today to embalm the body and prepare it for shipment.
