Brockway, Lester E. (Unknown - December 22, 1934)

INJURED Victim of an Accident at Alcova Dam

Douglas Budget - December 27, 1934

Lester E. Brockway, son of Mr. and Mrs. Percy B. Brockway, died in a Casper hospital Saturday as the result of injuries received at the Alcova dam, where he was employed. He received a fractured skull at the outlet portal of the tunnel being constructed by the Utah Construction Company.

Lester was one of a crew engaged at 6 a.m. in removing a mucking machine from the tunnel by motor. The removal was being effected by means of a tie between the machine and motor. In some manner the support slipped and Brockway was caught between the motor and mucker in such a way that he suffered three skull fractures. He was taken to the hospital at Casper, dying just a week after the accident occurred.

Lester spent practically all of his life in Douglas, graduating from the high school here in 1924. He was 29 years of age.

Besides his parents he is survived by three sisters, Mrs. George Kennard of Kansas City, Mrs. Glenn F. Bear of Kellerton, Ia., Mrs. Lowell Webber of Yakima, Wash.; three brothers, Lloyd of Flagstaff, Ariz., Wesley and James of Douglas.

Funeral services were held at the Congregational church Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. Clayton Judy officiating. Burial was in Douglas cemetery.
