Douglas Budget - August 1, 2001Funeral services for Roger Rolland Bourne, 62, will be held at 2 p.m. Aug. 1 at Converse Funeral Chapel in Douglas with Russell Bourne as eulogist. Interment will be at Douglas Park Cemetery.
Mr. Bourne died July 29, 2001, at his home in Douglas.
He was born May 4, 1939, in Wenatche, Wash., to Rolland Ridlen and June Evelyn (Ashcraft) Bourne. He was reared and educated in Washington, Nebraska and Wyoming.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1960. He then resided in Burbank, Calif., and Billings, Mont., and worked at uranium mines in Wyoming.
He moved to Douglas in 1978 and worked at the Holiday Inn. For the past 19 years he was employed at Broken Wheel Truck Stop as a dishwasher.
He enjoyed reading, watching TV and visiting with customers and older people. He collected old funny books. He was a member of First Christian Church in Clyde, Kan.
Mr. Bourne is survived by his mother, June E. Bourne of Douglas; a sister, Malissa Diehl and husband Ronald of Riverton; two brothers, Rickey Bourne and wife Carol of Lander and Russell Bourne and wife Flora of Douglas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Rolland Ridlen "Rolly" Bourne, on April 17, 1987.
Serving as pallbearers will be Justin Lowder, Daniel diehl, Uriah Bankes. Devlin Stinton, Sandy Whitaker and Benjamin Ramos.
Memorial to the United States Forest Service, 2250 E. Richards, Douglas, would be appreciated by the family.
