Douglas Budget - December 10, 1997Funeral services for Kenny Bartshe, 72, were held at St. Louis Catholic Church in Glenrock recently with Fr. Cliff Jacobson of St. Anthony's officiating.
After a year-long battle with bone caner, Mr. Bartshe died at Central Wyoming Hospice Dec. 4.
He was born in Douglas Sept. 17, 1925, to Tracy D. and Ella (Sullivan) Bartshe. His mother was born and raised in the Boxelder community and his father's family moved into the area from Missouri in 1891, when Tracy was 4 years old.
Mr. Bartshe graduated from Douglas High School in 1943. He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II and was stationed at Catalina Island, Calif., and Ellis Island, N.Y. After his discharge, he enrolled in radio school in Ft. Wayne, Ind.
He returned to the family ranch and worked with his father until Tracy passed away in 1983. Mr. Bartshe continued to operate the ranch until ill health forced his limited retirement in 1995.
Mr. Bartshe had a great appreciation for his family and friends, his heritage and the outdoors. He had a special place in the hearts of many.
Survivors include his sister, Phyllis (Bartshe) Hardesty and her husband, Bob, of Casper; and three nieces and their husbands, Laurie and Bob Swan of Victor, Idaho, Michelle and Mike Leyba of Casper, and Kerry and Kyle Gray and their children Erin and Zane of Casper.
Memorial donations to Central Wyoming Hospice or a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
