Barrett Funeral Saturday at
Douglas Budget - May 31, 1962Funeral services for Frank A. Barrett, 69, will be held in Lusk at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 1, at the high school auditorium. He died Wednesday in Cheyenne from leukemia, a form of blood cancer. Burial will be in the Lusk cemetery. Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. at the family home in Lusk.
Frank Barrett was the only man ever to serve Wyoming as U.S. Senator, governor, and congressman.
A Republican, he started his political career in 1923 when he was elected Niobrara County attorney. It ended in 1958 when he was narrowly defeated by Sen. Gale McGee, Democrat.
Barrett was elected to Congress in 1942 and was elected for three additional terms. He left the Washington scene in 1950 when he was elected govrnor (sic) of Wyoming, and resigned as governor two years later when he was elected to the U.S. Senate.
