Douglas Budget - August 21, 1986Memorial services for Raymond H. Beatty, 76, were held Aug. 19 at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Douglas with Reverend Robert Nuhn officiating. Interment was in the Douglas Park Cemetery with the Samuel Mares American Legion Post No. 8 conducting military graveside rites.
Mr. Beatty died Aug. 16 at the West Nebraska General Hospital in Scottsbluff, Neb. following a long illness.
The son of George W. and Cora(Weaver)Beatty, he was born Feb. 10, 1910, in Cass County, Iowa. Mr. Beatty was reared and educated at Prescott, Iowa, graduating from the Prescott High School.
After graduation he drove stock truck for his brother and in the summer worked construction for Iowa Road Builders. Mr. Beatty entered the U.S. Army and served during World War II.
After his discharge he went to work as a salesman for the Ford dealership in Creston, Iowa.
For 23 years he was associated and owned Ford dealerships in Corning and Humboldt, Iowa and Douglas.
Mr. Beatty married Elizabeth McClelland March 16, 1957 at Alliance, Neb.
After selling his part of ownership in the Ford dealership in Douglas he became general sales manager and worked for Rogers Ford until April, 1983.
He was a member of the Samuel Mares American Legion Post No. 8, and became a charter member of The Society of Professional Sales Managers of the Ford Motor Company in 1975.
Mr. Beatty is survived by his wife, Betty of Douglas; one brother, Gerld Beatty of Precott, Iowa; two sisters, Helen Mohr of Scottsbluff, Neb. and Ruby Tallmon of Mitchell, Neb. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Glenn.
A memorial to the American Cancer Society or to the Congregational United Church of Christ would be appreciated by the family.
The Converse Funeral Chapel of Douglas was in charge of the arrangements.
