Douglas Budget - January 19, 1994Funeral services for Elizabeth J. "Betty" Beatty, 71, will be held Saturday, Jan. 22, at 10 a.m. at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Douglas, with Rev. Merrill Lanker officiating. Inurnment will be in the Douglas Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Beatty died Dec. 21, 1993, at Michael Manor in Douglas.
She was born Feb. 18, 1922, in Corning, Iowa the daughter of William A. and Maude (O'Dell) McClelland. She was reared and educated in Corning, graduating from the Corning High School.
She then attended State Teachers College in Maryville, Mo., and later the Cedar Falls State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
She did secretarial work in Denver, Colorado, Chicago, Illinois and Des Moines, Iowa, and served on the draft board in Corning during World War II.
She was married to Raymond H. Beatty on March 16, 1957, in Alliance, Neb. Betty owned the Spring Crest Draperies with outlets in Douglas, Casper, and Gillette for 20 years.
She was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ, the Douglas Community Club, American Legion Auxilliary, and had been a member of the Zonta Club.
She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Stevens of Douglas; nephew Richard Stevens, his wife, Suzan, and their children Kimberely Stevens and Kristopher Stevens all of Springfield, Mo.; and a sister-in-law, Helen Mohr of Gering, Neb.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband on August 16, 1986.
A memorial to the Congregational United Church of Christ would be appreciated by the family.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will, be Richard Stevens, Kristopher Stevens, Francis Farlow, and Donald Farlow.
The Converse Funeral Chapel of Douglas is in charge of the arrangements.
