Douglas Budget - October 9, 2002Graveside services for Gerald "Jerry" Beck, 65, will be held at 11 a.m. Oct. 10 at Douglas Park Cemetery with Rev. Martin Strom of the Congregational United Church of Christ officiating.
Mr. Beck died Sept. 20, 2002, in San Antonio, Texas, following a severe heart attack.
He was born Nov. 5, 1936, in Hutchinson, Minn., to Ernest and Doris (Doerr) Beck. He was reared and educated in Hutchinson and worked on a dairy farm until he enlisted in the Army.
Mr. Beck worked primarily as a truck driver and resided in carious places, including Minnesota, Wyoming, Kansas and Wisconsin. At the time of his death he lived in LaCrosse, Wis.
His hobbies included fishing, listening to music, auto repair, nature walks and driving around. He was a very spiritual person who loved to help those in need.
Mr. Beck is survived by his daughters Sandra Fox of Palmyra, Wis., Tammy Beck of Wisconsin, Jerri Jahraus of Apache Junction, Ariz., Rowenda Dellisanti, currently stationed in Heidelbert, Germany, and Randee Thompson of Glenrock; sons Michael Beck of California and Robert Vincent, currently stationed in San Diego, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother.
In lieu of flowers, donations to a memorial fund established in his name at Converse Funeral Chapel, P.O. Box X, Douglas, would be appreciated by the family.
