Douglas Budget - May 25, 1972Services for Paul Douglas Bailey were held last week from the First Baptist Church in Gillette with Rev. Harry Hurt officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Pisgah cemetery with American Legion Post No. 42 conducting graveside services.
Paul Douglas Bailey was born August 1, 1925 at Jordan, New Mexico to Ernest R. and Mattie Wells Bailey. He graduated from high school at House, New Mexico. He served in the army in Alaska during World War II, earning the rank of Master Sergeant.
On May 1945 he was united in marriage with Mary Ann Tarrant at the First Baptist Church in Douglas. To this union were born two sons, Paul Douglas Jr. and Ernest Gilbert, both of Gillette.
A memorial has been established to the Campbell County Recreation Fund.
Survivors include his step-mother Mrs. Bertha Bailey of Grand Junction, Colorado; four brothers Jim Bailey of Fruitland, New Mexico, Milford Bailey of Crawford, Colorado, Capt. Clinton Bailey of Fort Mead, Maryland; sisters Mrs. Karen Williamson, Farmington, New Mexico, Mrs. Rita Lancaster of Dinasaur, New Mexico, Mrs. Pam Eckley of Layfette, Colorado and Mrs. Thuringa Green of McAlister, New Mexico.
Others motoring to Gillette to attend the funeral included Mr. Gilbert Tarrant, Leila Anthens, Lulla Anderson, John Anderson, Edith Sullivan and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hinkley and Debbie.
