Lloyd F. Brown dies on May 18
Douglas Budget - May 25, 1978Funeral services for Lloyd F. Brown, 65, of Glendo, were held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 22 at the Glendo Community Church, with Pastor Bob Norris officiating. Burial was at the Horseshoe Cemetery, with the Schrader-Prell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
A memorial has been established to the Glendo Community Church. Pallbearers were Vic Sommers, Robert Silsby, James McCormick, Everett Weimer, Everett Engling, and Dean Engling; honorary pallbearers were Cecil Hume of Sidney, Nebraska, also Quinn Adams, Cliff Aultman and Lyle Eller.
Brown died Thursday, May 18 in a Scottsbluff Hospital. He was born October 16, 1912 at Eddyville, Nebraska, and married Hilda Borges in Lodgepole, Nebraska in 1938. He had farmed at Crook, Colorado, before moving to Glendo in 1955.
He was a machine operator for a heavy construction company until his semi-retirement in 1974, after which he operated a mail route at Glendo. He was a member of the Glendo Town Council for the past three years.
Survivors include his wife Hilda of Glendo; son Fred of El Toro, Calif.; daughters Mrs. Carol Wolfe of Scottsbluff, Neb., and Mrs. Karen Hankey of Wheaton, Md.; brothers Elmer of Custer, S.D., Frank of Riddle, Ore.; Charles of Medford, Ore.; and Lester of Oakland, Calif.; sisters Doris Loghry of Port Angeles, Wash., Lois Volmer of Lexington, Neb., Thelma Longmore of Macdoel, Calif., and Velma Lammers of Overton, Neb.; and five grandchildren. Two brothers and one sister preceded Lloyd in death.
