Douglas Budget - May 29, 1996Funeral services for Hilda Engeline Brown, 83, will be 2 p.m., Thursday, May 30, at the Glendo Community Church with Rev. Bill Moore of the First United Methodist Church in Douglas officiating.
Interment will be in Horseshoe Cemetery in Glendo.
Mrs. Brown died Sunday, May 26, 1996, in Colorado Springs, Colo.
She was born in Jan. 18, 1913, at the Borges Homestead in Cheyenne County, Neb., to Frederick and Anna (Bauer) Borges.
Mrs. Brown was a graduate of Chadron State College and taught elementary school in her younger years. She married Lloyd Brown in 1938 in Lodge Pole, Neb. They lived and farmed in Crook, Colo., before moving to Glendo in 1955.
While living in Glendo, she and Pat Foy owned and operated "The Kitchen Cafe" for several years. She also enjoyed playing cribbage and won the 1974 Glendo cribbage tournament. She was a resident of Douglas since 1990.
She is survived by her son, Fred Brown of Torrington; daughters Carol Craig of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Karen Lucas of Lakewood, Colo.; two granddaughters; and four grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and by her husband Lloyd on May 18, 1978.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jim McVay, Honk Engling, Dean Engling, Jamie McCormick, Don Sanborn and Bob Silsby.
Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons Jordon, Jason, Jeff and Jon Wolfe.
A memorial to Glendo Community Church or to Silver Key Transportation (in care of Karen Lucas, 435 Right St. Unit 41, Lakewood, Colo., 80228) would be appreciated by the family.
Converse Funeral Chapel of Douglas is in charge of arrangements.
Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 3-7 p.m. and on Thursday from 9-11:30 a.m.
