Douglas Budget - April 23, 1981Friends at Glendo learned last week of the death of a former resident, Mina V. Benson, 73, of Cheyenne. Mrs. Benson died Thursday, April 16, at Eventide Manor in Cheyenne. She was born May 25, 1907 in North Platte, Neb., and had lived at Glendo before moving to Cheyenne in 1974. She and John L. Benson were married May 25, 1927, in Cheyenne. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, VFW Auxiliary of Post 1881, U.P. Oldtimers Club No. 1, Gold Star Mothers, and an honorary member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her husband. Survivors include five sons and daughters, Jess Benson, of Cody; Thomas Benson, Cheyenne; John R. Benson, of Downey, Calif.; Mina Maye Montgomery, Kingman, Ariz., and Lornce Benson, Downey, Calif. Her oldest son, Raymond, was killed in Vietnam in 1967. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren.
Services were held at 2 p.m., April 20, 1981, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Cheyenne. Burial was in Memorial Gardens.
