Douglas Budget - November 3, 1993Funeral services for Robert Dan Burton, 42, were held Oct. 30, at the Converse Funeral Chapel in Douglas with Rev. Merrill Lanker of the Congregational United Church of Christ officiating. Interment was in the Douglas Park Cemetery.
Mr. Burton died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 1993, near Douglas due to injuries received in an automobile accident.
Robert was born July 7, 1951, in Borger, Texas, the son of Val Jean (Slaybaugh) and Ralph Lester Burton Sr. He was reared and educated in Borger, and graduated from Stinnett High School in 1970 in Stinnett, Texas.
He moved to Douglas in 1972 working in road construction and the oil field. Robert married Karen S. Zaichkin on Oct. 30, 1979, in Douglas. He then attended welding school and had worked for WOTCO in Casper, since 1990. He collected baseball caps, enjoyed mechanic work and boating, and was an avid fisherman.
Robert is survived by his wife Karen Burton; mother Val Jean Park and step-father Barry Park; children Vicki, Amber and Robert Ryan Burton all of Douglas; three brothers Ralph Lester Burton Jr., of Alamosa, Colo.; Raymond Kent Burton of Woodward, Okla.; Ronald Eugene Burton of Douglas.
He was preceded in death by his father Ralph Lester Burton Sr., on Dec. 29, 1983; his maternal grandparents Dean and Minnie Slaybaugh, and paternal grandparents Ernest and Ella Burton.
Serving as pallbearers were Raymond Burton, Ralph Lester Burton Jr., Ronald Eugene Burton, Al Lesco, Glen Maguire and Bill Weber. Honorary pallbearers were all of his family and many friends.
A memorial has been established for Robert Burton's Children's Education Fund and may be sent in care of the Converse County Bank, Attention; Carol Menter, P.O. Box 689, Douglas, WY 82633.
Converse Funeral Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
