"LEM" BARBER DIES BROTHER'S HOME

Old Resident of County, Many Years Peace Officer

Columbus A. "Lem" Barber, pioneer resident of Wyoming, died at the home of his brother, George, south of Glenrock, Tuesday evening. He was in his 72nd year.

Mr. Barber came to Lusk in 1886, the year the town was founded. He was a peace officer for many years, serving as deputy under Sheriffs Williams, Virden, Hazen and Messenger. In 1910 he was elected sheriff of Converse county, serving one term.

He was married to Emily Randolph of Reedsville, O., at Lusk in 1893. No children was born to the union, but they adopted Velma, daughter of a brother Elmer, now Mrs. Cecil Thompson of Douglas. He made his home with the Thompsons the last ten years, following the death of his wife. He was visiting his brothers in Glenrock at the time of his death.

Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock this (Thursday) afternoon at the Congregational church in Lusk. Burial was beside his wife in the Lusk cemetery.
