Douglas Budget - December 10, 1970Funeral services for Robert Glen "Hook" Bartos were held December 3, 1970 at the United Methodist Church in Douglas with the Rev. Daniel Clark officiating.
Bob was killed Nov. 28 near Tyrone, Pennsylvania when he was struck in the head by a branch of a tree which broke from or caught on to a tree he felled.
He was born at Lost Springs, Wyoming, June 11, 1934, the son of Lolo Ruhl Bartos and the late Glen Roy Bartos. He graduated with the class of '54 from Converse County High School and attended Casper College on a basketball scholarship.
On April 22, 1962 he was united in marriage to Deborah McNally, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William McNally of Tyrone, Pa., at the First Methodist church at Douglas. In 1963 they went to Pennsylvania where Bob worked with Mr. McNally until going into the woodsman business for himself. Two sons, Terry Allen and Robert William "Bobby", were born at Tyrone.
Survivors include his wife, Deborah and two sons, his mother, Lolo Bartos, two brothers, Bill of Casper and his twin, Dick of Laurel Bay, S.C.; two sisters, Dorothy Ryan of Worland and Mildred Solari of Woodbridge, Va. His father and a brother preceded him in death.
Bob was a member of the Burmingham Presbyterian church and the Elks Lodge 212 and was serving the lodge as Lecturing Knight. The Lodge held a memorial service Monday at Tyrone and the body was shipped to Douglas for the funeral and interment in the Douglas Park Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at Tyrone for friends in that area.
Active pallbearers were Terry Rider, Otto "Butch" Bolln, Glen Wilcox, Carl Dorothy, Stan Lundberg and John Rust. Honorary pallbearers were Kent Richardson, Tuffy Carothers, Jerry Payne, Otto "Beef" Bolln, John Nida, John Barieffi, Russ Poirot, Bert St. John, Walt Murphy, Pete Petranovich, George Carmin, Ken Vandel, Wimpy Drennen, Danny Alexander, Rebel Coffey, Gene Morvee, Walt Reed, Babe Reed, Jim Reeves, I.B. Rupe and John Huntzinger.
Out-of-town relatives and friends attending the services were the Jim Ryan family of Worland, Mrs. Delbe Solari of Woodbridge, Va., Dick Bartos of Laurel Bay, S.C., and the Bill Bartos family of Casper, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bartos and Mrs. Neva Turek of Hemingford, Nebr., Mrs. Jim Church of Milbrae, Calif.; Mrs. Emmett Longbone of Denver, Mrs. Edna Fowler and Jack, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Fowler, Mrs. N.O.
