Harry Herman Brecht, 65, died Friday, September 4, 1981 in Wheatland.

The son of Jacob and Marie Herzog Brecht. Harry was born June 15, 1916 in Torrington. As a young child he lived in Nebraska for a short time. In 1925 his parents moved to Wheatland, where he received his education. He worked on the family farm before entering the U.S. Army in 1941. After his discharge in 1945, he returned to the Wheatland area, where he was married to Clara Kilpatrick on January 6, 1946 at the Trinity Lutheran Church. They moved to Glendo area where they acquired a farm and lived until the time of his death. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Wheatland.

Survivors include his wife, Clara, of Glendo; one son, Ken, of Cheyenne; one daughter, Dorothy Tozier of Kansas City, Kan.; two brothers, J.J. "Jack" Brecht Sr., of Wheatland and John Brecht of Torrington; three sisters, Kathryn Aschebenner of Scottsbluff, Neb., Charlotte Heilbrun of Minatare, Neb., and Molly Lipscomb of Memphis, Tenn.; and one granddaughter, Kristen Tozier of Kansas City.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Sept. 8 at 10 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Emmet Rogness officiating. Interment was in the Wheatland Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jack Smith, Lee Cundall, Boyd Leonard, Hugo Lenz, Orman Milikin and Everett Engling.

A memorial has been established to the Trinity Lutheran Church. The Schrader-Prell Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
