Douglas Budget - March 31, 1983Lu Ada Burden, age 83, died Friday, March 25, 1983 at the Converse County Memorial Hospital in Douglas after a brief illness.
Ada, the daughter of William and Sarah Roberts, was born July 28, 1899 in Greenvalley, Missouri. She was reared and educated in Missouri. She was married to Perry Richard Burden on March 28, 1916 in Holden, Missouri. They moved to Wyoming in 1917 to homestead north of Bill, Wyoming. Ada moved to Douglas in 1940 where she worked for the LaBonte Hotel and the school lunch program for many years. She retired in 1963, and has remained a resident of Douglas until the time of her death.
She is survived by two sons; Robert and Milan both of Douglas; three daughters; Ethel Gass of Douglas, Helen Epperly of Glenrock, and Marie Aeschlimann of Ogden, Utah; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Perry R. Burden in May, 1981; one son, Commodore; two brothers, Lydge and Huston Roberts; and two grandsons, Michael and Richard Burden.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 28, 1983 at 3:00 P.M. at the Congregational United Church of Christ with the Rev. Robert Nuhn officiating. Interment was in the Douglas Park Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were grandsons; Gerald Epperly, Larry Epperly, Dennis Epperly, Robert Burden, Chris Burden and Olin Smith.
The Converse Funeral Chapel of Douglas was in charge of the arrangements.
