Douglas Budget - April 17, 1986Funeral services for Pearle E. Blackman, 86, were held Saturday at the Converse Funeral Chapel with Reverend Robert Nuhn of the Congregational United Church of Christ officiating. Interment was in the Douglas Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Blackman died following a brief illness April 9 at Mercy Hospital in Omaha, Neb.
The daughter of Ernest and Lydia Maurer Gleim, Mrs. Blackman was born July 15, 1899 in Gresham County,, Neb. She was reared and educated in Nebraska.
She married James A. Blackman in York, Neb. prior to their moved to Wyoming in 1919. They homesteaded in the Dry Creek Community north of Douglas. They lived on their ranch until 1945, at which time they moved to Douglas. She was a pastry cook at the LaBonte Hotel for several years. She moved to Casper in 1957 and was the pastry cook at the Horn Drug for several years. She was a member of the Rebecca Lodge in Douglas.
She is survived by her daughter, Lydia Felton, of Yuma, Ariz.; one sister, Goldie Bond of York, Neb.; three grandchildren, Deborah Fujan of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Mike Blackman of Houston, and Bruce Blackman of Breckenridge Colo.; and six great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James A., May 8, 1956; two sons, James H. and Wayne; one brother. Elmer; and two sisters, Margaret Gleim and Dorothy Schumaker. Serving as pallbearers were Earl Shatto, Larry Shatto, Kerry Shatto, Stan Lundberg, Gene Lasco, and Gordon Peters.
A memorial to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
The Converse Funeral Chapel of Douglas was in charge of the arrangements.
