Douglas Budget - September 17, 2003Funeral services for Fanny A. Bloem, 99, will be held at 2 p.m. Sept. 18 at Gorman Funeral Homes-Converse Chapel of Douglas with Rev. Dr. Robert D. Firebaugh of First United Methodist Church officiating.
Interment will be at Douglas Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Bloem died Sept. 14, 2003, at Michael Manor in Douglas.
She was born Nov. 11, 1903, in North Loup, Neb., to George and Libby Mae (Bancroft) Larkin. On July 20, 1920, she married JH "Jack" Bloem in Nebraska. The couple moved to Douglas in 1931.
They owned Jack's New and Used Furniture for many years.
Mrs. Bloem was very proud of all her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was a member of Royal Neighbors and Rebekah Lodge. She enjoyed crocheting and loved antiques.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law Grace Bloem Leeling of Douglas; grandson Jack Bloem and wife of Glenrock; granddaughter Renee Hossack and husband of Upton; five great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband JH "Jack" Bloem; a son; two sisters; a brother; and a great-granddaughter.
Serving as pallbearers will be Brian Hossack, Holt Hossack, Shy Hossack, Jack Bloem, Rob Bloem and Mike Bloem.
A memorial to Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 192, Douglas, would be appreciated by the family.
Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 1-7 p.m. Sept. 17 and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 18.
