Douglas Budget - April 20, 1978Services for Mabel Eliza Ballard, 67, of Douglas were held Saturday, April 8, at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Bob Norris officiating.
Interment was in Douglas Park Cemetery. Mrs. Ballard died Tuesday, April 4, 1978 at Natrona County Memorial Hospital in Casper following a short illness.
She was born March 15, 1911 at Douglas, Wyo., to Frank and Mary Koontz Gitthens and had worked for many years as an LPN at the Converse County Memorial Hospital in Douglas. She was married to Samuel Ballard III on Aug. 30, 1932. He preceded her in death in 1953.
Mrs. Ballard was a member of the First Baptist Church of Douglas, Douglas Homemakers, Douglas Coffee Club, Wyoming Pioneer Association and American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include; Sons, Sam Ballard of Douglas, Monte Ballard of Sterling, Ill. and Walter Ballard of Longmont, Colo.; daughter, Mrs. Frank (Barbara) Lyons of Cheyenne; two brothers, Clifford Gitthens of Casper and Howard Gitthens of DesMoines, Iowa; sisters Wilma Sanders and Donna Allison of Denver and Mae Ryder of Gordon, Nebr. She is survived by 13 grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Doug Reeves, Earl Russell, Earl Shatto, John Rust, Clarence Ramshire and Jim Felton.
