Funeral services for Leonard H. Bartshe, 88, longtime Converse County rancher, were held Friday, May 10 at Christ Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Stuart Cowles and the Rev. George Stephan officiating. Mr. Bartshe passed away May 8 at his home in Douglas, following a short illness.

A resident of Boxelder community for 76 years, Mr. Bartshe ranched in that area until retiring and moving to Douglas three years ago.

He was born October 8, 1886 at Buffalo, Mo. to Henry H. and Grace Wood Bartshe. He made his first trip to Wyoming in the early 1890s, traveling West with his parents by train. The family then left the state for a short time, later returning to settle in the Boxelder community.

Mr. Bartshe married the former Grace Leman, October 30, 1918, at the Leman ranch home west of Douglas.

He was a member of the Wyoming Stock Growers, the Wyoming Farm Bureau and the Moose Lodge, and had formerly served as a Director of the Federal Land Bank.

Survivors besides his wife, Grace, include two sons, Leonard L. Bartshe and James H. Bartshe, and two daughters, Mrs.. Ray (Ruth) Warnock and Mrs. Martin (Bette) Olsen, all of Douglas; two brothers, Tracy D. Bartshe and Hugh B. Bartshe, both of Casper; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Six grandsons, two by marriage, served as pallbearers; Dean Olsen, DeWayne Olsen, Gary Olsen, Gregg Warnock, Larry Philbrick and Ronald Bailey.

Interment was in Douglas Park Cemetery.
