Douglas Budget - March 2, 2005A memorial service for Kevin Paul Alberts, 26, of Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of Glenrock, was held Feb. 26 in the Glenrock Middle School Auditorium with Pastor Grant Adams officiating.
Inurnment was in the Alberts family plot at Douglas Park Cemetery.
Mr. Alberts died Monday, Feb. 21, 2005, at St. Joseph Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, surrounded by family.
He was born May 31, 1978, in Douglas. He grew up in Glenrock and graduated from Glenrock High School in 1996. While growing up, Alberts was an athlete and participated in football, basketball, baseball and wrestling. He also participated in rodeo and riding bareback broncs. Mr. Alberts was well known for his fun loving nature. In 1999, he moved to Phoenix, where he met Mindy Budge, the love of his life. They were married on May 27, 2001.
Mr. Alberts was a talented musician and his dream was to pursue a career in music education so that he could share his love of music through teaching. He was doing what he enjoyed most in life- playing with his band- when he unexpectedly became ill.
He will be remembered as a thoughtful and sensitive man who touched many lives. Those who were fortunate to know him knew that he was a man of great wisdom and of a gentle nature. he was a living and devoted husband, a wonderful son and grandson, a brother and uncle, and son-in-low and brother-in-law. Mr. Alberts had an abundance of good friends, and he had a profound and positive influence on each and every one around him. He lived life to its fullest at all times, and his family and friends will forever miss him.
He is survived by his wife, Mindy; mother Theresa Mangus ans stepfather Dan Mangus; father and stepmother Dale and Melanie Alberts; brothers, Erik Alberts and wife Crystal, Brady Mangus and Chase Mangus; stepsisters Lindsay Goodson and husband Josh, and Kimber Kierig; grandparents James and Julie DePietro, Betty Alberts and Dan and Sharon Mangus; uncles and aunts James and Kyla DePietro, Richard and Cindy DePietro and Mike and Terra Oakley; uncle Guy Mangus; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. He had a special place in his heart for nephew Brayden Alberts and niece Rylie Alberts.
Mr. Alberts was predeceased by his grandfather Henry Alberts; aunt Deborah Alberts; and special great-grandmothers Iris Mangus, Grandma Mary Harris and Grandma Theresa DePietro.
Derving as honorary pallbearers were Erik Alberts, Dale Alberts, Brady mangus, Chase Mangus, Dan Mangus Jr., Ryan Stewart, Dan Mangus Sr., Guy Mangus, Carl Lembke, Jared Williams, Danny Nelson, Lonny Dobler, Ivard Budge and all of his many other friends.
