Douglas Budget - October 5, 2005Funeral services for Grace Leman Bartshe, 107, will be held at 2 p.m. Oct. 5 at Christ Episcopal Church in Douglas, with the Rev. Kathy Robinson officiating.
Interment will be in the family plot at Douglas Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Bartshe, a lifelong resident of Converse County, died Oct. 1, 2005, at Michael Manor in Douglas.
She was born June 13, 1898, at the family ranch home at Beaver southwest of Douglas, the first child of five of Bessie(Mills)and Dennis Leman. She attended Beaver School through the eight grade, then attended Catholic School at the Catholic Convent in Cheyenne, where she graduated from high school.
She taught for one year at Pat Brow School and one year at Amspoker School.
On Oct. 30, 1918, she married Leonard H. Bartshe and moved to Boxelder south of Glenrock, where they raised their four children.
Mrs. Bartshe enjoyed playing bridge, traveling, gardening and being with her family. She and Leonard moved to Douglas in 1971, where she resided until her death.
Mrs. Bartshe was preceded in death by her parents Bessie and Dennis Leman; siblings Edith(Leman)Browning, Ruth(Leman)Irwin, Jim Leman and Doug Leman; husband Leonard Bartshe on May 19, 1974; son Leonard H. Bartshe Jr. on Dec. 18, 1978; and son-in-law Marty Olsen.
She is survived by her daughters Ruth Warnock and husband Ray of Douglas and Bette Olsen of Glenrock; son Jim Bartshe and wife Vera of Douglas; daughter-in-law Louise Bartshse of Douglas; grandchildren Warren Cook, Jeri(Olsen)Philbrick, Sharon(Bartshe)Bailey, Marti Jean(Olsen)Weiss, DeWayne Olsen, Gregg Warnock, Kay(Warnock)Johnson, Gary Olsen, Debra(Bartshe)Scott and Becky Bartshe; 14 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Gregg Warnock, Gary Olsen, Craig Philbrick, Mark Weiss, TJ Hageman and Payden McIntyre.
A memorial to the Douglas Senior Citizens Center, P.O. Box 192, Douglas 82633, would be appreciated by the family.
