Douglas Budget - February 1, 1995Services for Ruby Mae Brownell, 76, of Seminoe State Park were held Friday, Jan. 27, at the Bustard Funeral Home in Casper.
She died Monday, Jan. 23, 1995, at the Memorial Hospital of Carbon County in Rawlins following an accident in her home earlier that day. She had been in poor health for several years and had been living with her son and daughter-in-law for the past two and a half years.
She was born Aug. 6, 1918, in Mitchell, Neb., to Reuben and Beula(Stoneking)Selby. She graduated from Mitchell High School in May 1936.
On Dec. 5, 1936, she married Vern Brownell in Gering, Neb. They moved to Wyoming in 1939 where her husband was employed by the CB&Q Railroad as a section foreman. For the most part, they lived in Guernsey, Glendo and Douglas until they moved to Lysite in 1965.
Her husband passed away in March 1976, and she moved to Seminoe in 1992.
Survivors are her son, Dan and his wife Melissa; a granddaughter, Darlene Lytle and her husband Jim of Evanston; a grandson, Danny, who is in the Dominican Republic on a mission for the LDS Church; her stepmother, Mildred Selby of Casper; her half-sisters Mary Hufsmith of Casper, Daisy Connor of Chubback, Idaho, Frances Heide of Torrington, and Julia Stairs of Casper; her half-brothers Floyd Conn of Farmington, N.M., Lawrence Selby of Checotah, Okla., Joe Selby of Aurora, Colo., Bob Jerry, Dale and Frank Selby all of Casper, Leonard Selby of Cheyenne; one step-sister, Ivalee Conn of Littleton, Colo.; two step-brothers, Carl Conn of Oklahoma and Lyle Fitch of Oregon; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather, her husband, one sister, one brother, three half-sisters and three half-brothers.
Burial was in the Douglas Park Cemetery.
