Douglas Budget - April 1, 1976Services for Vern D. Brownell, 85, of Lysite, are scheduled for Thursday afternoon at the Bustard Funeral Home, in Casper.
Brownell died March 27, at Natrona County Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
He was born on May 5, 1910 at Sutton, Nebraska, and was reared and educated at Sutton and Elsie, Nebraska.
On December 5, 1936 he married Ruby Mae Selby at Gering, Nebraska. They moved to Wyoming in 1939 where Brownell was employed by the CB&Q Railroad. Brownell was a section foreman and worked from Guernsey to Douglas and the Glendo area.
Brownell was a World War II Army veteran and had served in the South Pacific.
He was a member of the American Legion of Douglas and the VFW of Guernsey. Brownell was also a member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees.
Survivors are the widow, Ruby, of Lysite; one son, Dan of Morcroft; one sister, Mrs. Dorothy Short of Worland; and one brother, Grover LeRoy of Atlantic City, Wyoming. He is also survived by two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.
Burial will be in the Douglas Park Cemetery in Douglas following military grave side services on April 1st, at 3:00 p.m.
