FORMER TEACHER DIES
Douglas Budget - February 23, 1961Mrs. Clarabelle Bowman, well-known former teacher in Douglas schools, died January 19 at Pioneer Home in Thermopolis. She was 82 years of age.
Mrs. Bowman taught in Douglas in 1916-17, and had been extended an invitation to attend the Reunion of Classes 1914-20 held here last August, but was unable to attend.
Mrs. Bowman was a pioneer in education in Wyoming, and was the first married woman to register at the University of Wyoming. She obtained her master's degree from Wyoming University in 1921, and also was the first student in the state to study the problem of retarded children in the state.
Funeral services for Mrs. Bowman were held in Laramie, and burial was in Greenhill cemetery there.
