Boyd, Inadel (Cook) (July 27, 1915 - 1999)
Douglas Budget - August 4, 1999At her request, no services are planned for Inadel Boyd, 84, who died after a short illness at the Centura Help Porter Hospice in Denver.
Cremation has taken place and ashes were buried in Lamar, Colo., with the Fairmont Mortuary officiating.
She was born July 27, 1915, to Louis and Elsie(Miller) Cook, The Cooks later divorced, In 1922, she married John Swickhamer of Shawnee. Inadel was educated at Shawnee and Laramie, then obtained her RN degree from Milwaukee, Wis. County Nurses' School.
During World War II she joined the Army Nurse Corps station at Muroc, Calif. After the war, Mrs. Boyd worked at the Veterans' Hospital in Woods, Wis., transferring to Denver vets where she worked until her retirement.
On July 25, 1958, she married Robert W. Boyd in Steamboat Springs, Colo. Mr. Boyd was circulation manager for the Rocky Mountain News. He died in 1981 and is buried in Lamar.
Mrs. Boyd was a member of Christ Methodist Church of Denver. She loved traveling and meeting people, making many long-lasting friends.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Earl, Lee and Ray; and sister Marjorie.
She is survived by sisters Irma Kant and Norma Spracklen, both of Douglas; stepsons Ron and Ray Boyd; and many nephews and nieces.
Memorials to Denver Children's Hospital or the charity of donor's choice will be greatly appreciated by the family. Acknowledgements will be made by Irma Kant, 722 S. 6th, Douglas.
A memorial service is being planned for a later date in Douglas.
