Douglas Budget - September 1, 1999Graveside services and interment for Paul Thomas Burk, 77, were Saturday, Aug. 28, at Douglas Park Cemetery.
Military graveside rites were conducted by Samuel Mares American Legion Post #8.
Mr. Burk died Tuesday, Aug. 24, at his home.
He was born Sept. 25, 1921, in Douglas to Thomas and Mary Catherine (Wooton) Burk. He was reared and educated in Douglas and served during World War II in the Air Force as a pilot. Following his discharge he returned to Douglas and married Barbara Ellen Bailey.
The couple lived in Iowa and Wyoming until his wife's death, when Mr. Burk worked as a painter and an equipment operator.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Samuel Mares American Legion Post #8. He enjoyed fishing.
Mr. Burk was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughters Catherine McDaniel and Elaine Sprifkie; and sister Mary Vanderworker.
He is survived by a sister, Myrtle Baker of Douglas; grandchildren Jody McDaniel Harrison of Whiteside, Mo., and Ricky McDaniel of Casper; and great-granddaughter Courtney McDaniel of Indiana.
Memorials to the choice of the donor would be appreciated by the family.
Converse Funeral Chapel of Douglas was in charge of arrangements.
