Ray Bayless Is Dead of Wounds

Ray Bayless, who was shot by an unidentified man at Orin on the evening of October 24, in the Carlow & Delabunty pool room at that place, died at the Douglas hospital Sunday. Bayless was shot in the arm with a shotgun and the injured member was fearfully mutilated. The perpetrator of the deed opened the rear door of the pool hall, fired at Bayless and made his escape before he could be identified by the occupants of the room. The man suspected of the crime was not arrested and it is said he since disappeared.

The body of Bayless was taken to his old home at Pattenburg, Mo., by his brother, White Bayless. the dead man was 35 years of age. He had left home about sixteen years ago and the brother had not seen hin sibce that time until he met him in the hospital. The injured man furnished no information that would be available in securing the arrest of the man who did the shooting.
