Josephine Bright Laid to Rest in

Douglas Cemetery

Douglas Budget - October 6, 1949

Mrs. Josephine E. Bright of Ft. Laramie, Wyo., succumbed at the Lusk hospital early Monday morning, Sept. 26, having undergone surgery several days previous to her demise. She was apparently recovering from the operation, but developed a blood clot which caused her death.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon in the chapel of the Peet mortuary at Lusk, with Rev. Lawrence P. Juell of the Congregational church performing the rites.

Interment was made in Douglas Park cemetery, where the deceased was laid to rest beside her husband, the late Robert Bright. Casketbearers were Bill Thompson, "Red" Testolin, Al Regan and Don Summers of Fort Laramie, O.E. Bible of Lost Spring and Lloyd "Doc" Smith of Keeline.

Josephine Elaine Crane was born May 30, 1922, at Merriman, Neb., the daughter of Dellois and Ida Cass Crane. In 1928 she moved to Lusk with her parents and brother, Melbern, the latter now residing in Denver, Colo.

She received most of her schooling in Lost Spring. At the age of 19 she was married to Robert Bright of Shawnee. Two years later, in August 1943, her husband lost his life in an automobile accident.

Most of her life was spent on a ranch near Lost Spring and vicinity, and after her marriage on a ranch near Hartville, Wyo.
