Brodbeck, C.D. (Unknown - May 25, 1896)

Former Douglasits Dead

Bill Barlows Budget - May 27, 1896

A telegram was received from Mr. G.W. Metcalf, Cripple Creek, yesterday, by Mayor Steffen, master of the local Masonic lodge, announcing the death at that place Monday night of C.D. Brodbeck. Deceased will be remembered as one of the "pioneers" of Douglas. He was for years associated with C.D. Jenal, here and at Glenrock, in the drug business, and the firm made money from the first. Brodbeck finally went to Idaho Falls where he "went broke" on real estate speculations. He was running a lodging house in Chicago during the World's fair, and recently turned up at Cripple Creek. He died of pneumonia, and without means. His many friends here remember him kindly, and sincerely regret his untimely death.
