Mr. Bryant died Sunday, Sept. 27 at Michael Manor in Douglas following a long illness.
He was born April 11, 1902 in Litchfield, Ill. He was reared and educated in the Litchfield area. He then lived in Edwardsville, Ill. where he worked as a barber and raised his family. He then moved to Douglas to continue his barbering, then semi-retired and moved to Florida, and when he retired he moved to North Carolina. In 1980 he moved back to Douglas, and was married to Fay(Wilheim)Hillman on April 11, 1981 in Douglas at the Douglas Senior Citizens Center. He has resided in Douglas, and the past 18 months at Michael Manor, until the time of the Masonic Lodge, 32nd Degree, in Illinois and was active in the Senior Citizens Band.
He is survived by his wife, Fay, of Douglas; three children, Robert Bryant of Douglas, Betty J. Henke of Los Angeles, Calif., and Dorothy M. Whitsell of University City, Mo.; one brother, Melvin Bryant of San Diego, Calif.; ten grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his two wives, Fern Bryant and Evelyn Bryant; and one brother.
A memorial to the Douglas Senior Citizens Center to the Converse County Cancer Fund would be appreciated by the family.
Interment was at the Sunset Cemetery in Edwardsville, Ill.
The Converse Funeral Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
