Funeral services for Alexander W. Bernhardt, 58, were Nov. 28, 1995, at Converse Funeral Chapel, with Father John Murray of St. James Catholic Church officiating.

Mr. Bernardt died Nov. 25 in the emergency room at Converse County Memorial Hospital in Douglas.

He was born May 26, 1937, in Linton, N.D., to Alex Joseph and Julie Ann(Mitzel)Bernhardt. He was reared and educated in Linton, and following graduation from high school he moved to Boulder, Colo. He began working for IBM and lived in various communities until his retirement in 1992. He married Eva(Gates)O'Canna on Oct. 10, 1973, in Raton, N.M. They moved from Longmont, Colo., to Douglas in 1992.

He was a member of the Royal Order of the Moose Lodge #602 in Douglas and Elks Lodge in Longmont. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by his wife Eva of Douglas; son Mitchell Bernhardt of Oregon; four sisters; five brothers; and grandchildren Dean Bargas of Broomfield, Colo., and Deanne Cardillo of Louisville, Colo.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

A memorial to the Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family.
