Douglas Budget - January 7, 2009Funeral liturgy for Shirley Ann Bryson, 82, will be held at 10 a.m. Jan. 9 at Saint James Catholic Church in Douglas, with Father John Savio as the Celebrant.
A Vigil for the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. Jan. 8 at Gorman Funeral Homes-Converse Chapel in Douglas.
Interment will be in Douglas Park Cemetery.
She died Jan. 4, 2009, at her home in Douglas.
Shirley was born to Converse County pioneer ranchers George and Chloe (Hammond)Brow on Oct. 19, 1926, in Douglas. She was the 11th of 18 children. She was raised on the family ranch southwest of Douglas on Muddy Wagonhound Creek.
She received her elementary education at a rural school and graduated from Converse County High School in 1944.
She married Lee McDuffy Bryson on June 28, 1948, at her mother's home in Douglas. She and Lee raised their five children on the ideals of hard work and perseverance, and they are forever grateful for that.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lee on Sept. 14, 2000; and 13 of her siblings.
She is survived by sisters Vallie Hardy, Betty Domschot, Ida Jackson and Barbara Read; children Bob(Jamie)Bryson of Casper, Mike(JoEllen)Bryson, Valerie Reed and Patty (Rich)Carr, all of Douglas, and Kelly(Gale)Rhamy of Rapid City, S.D.; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Matt Rhamy, Jack Bryson, Fred Ramseier, Mike Alley, Jerry Bryson and Aaron Donner. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and all of her many friends.
Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
A memorial to the Saint James Catholic Church, P.O. Box 1500, Douglas, WY 82633, would be appreciated by the family.
