Douglas Budget - March 29, 2000Funeral services for Howard Louis Burke, 74, will be held at 2 p.m. March 29 at Converse Funeral Chapel with Ron Amen officiating.
Mr. Burke died March 23 at Michael Manor in Douglas.
He was born March 5, 1926, in Glenrock to Billy and Olive(Reeves)Burke.
He was reared and educated in Martin, S.D. and served in the Army from March 1945 to November 1946. He also rodeoed for 10 years.
He married Rosemary Linn on Sept. 6, 1969, in Hot Springs, S.D. Mr. Burke drove trucks for 30 years, including water trucks for Chinook, for Sage Trucking in Douglas, Lock Trucking in Wheatland and gravel trucks in Hot Springs.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards.
He was a member of the American Legion in Martin.
He is survived by his wife, Rosemary, of Douglas; children Kathy Westover of Gordon, Neb., Mike Burke of Miller, S.D., and Everette Burke of Pierre, S.D.; brothers Robert Burke of Sheridan, Ronnie Burke of Montana, and Ed Burke of Gordon; sisters Helen Jorgensen of Chamberlain, S.D., and Betty Hagler of Twin Falls, Idaho; grandchildren Rodney Dean Westover of Gordon and Orin Burke of Pierre; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
