Douglas Budget - July 14, 1999Funeral services for Donald Dwayne "Corky" Berens, 61, were Saturday, July 10, at Converse Funeral Chapel in Douglas with Pastor Ron Blain of the Restoration Fellowship Church officiating.
Interment was in Douglas Park Cemetery.
Mr. Berens died Wednesday, July 7, at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper following an extended illness.
He was born Sept. 30, 1937, in Paxton, S.D., to Walter J. and Lucy(Baggley)Berens. He was reared and educated in Gregory, S.D. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany.
On March 12, 1965, he married Sherry Clark in Cody. They lived in Cody until moving to Douglas in 1971. He worked for Phillips Petroleum until ill health forced his retirement in 1991.
Mr. Berens enjoyed bowling, yard work, his grandchildren and woodworking. He was a member of Samuel Mares American Legion Post #8.
He is survived by his wife, Sherry, of Douglas; daughter Julie and her husband Morris Norvell of Gatesville, Texas; son Walter C. and wife Michele Berens of Douglas; two wonderful nieces, Kelly Kay Bryson and Valerie Bryson, both of Douglas; brother Marlin Berens of New Mexico; sisters Pat Hildman of Lakewood, Colo., Carolyn Felton of Littleton, Colo., and Lynn Rae Damjanovich of Edgewater, Colo.; grandchildren Donald Norvell of Gatesville and Rachel Nichole Berens of Douglas; and all of his other wonderful family.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Serving as pallbearers were Dave Clark, Ron Clark, Jack Clark, Mike Bryson, Bob Torezon and Richard Jackson.
A memorial to the American Lung Association, P.O. Box 1128, Cheyenne 82003-1128, would be appreciated by the family. Converse Funeral Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
