Douglas Budget - December 20, 2006Funeral services for Carole Theresa Blackburn, 72, will be held at 11 a.m. Dec. 23 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Douglas with Rev. Paul M. Rosburg officiating.
Interment will be in the Horseshoe Cemetery near Glendo at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
Mrs. Blackburn died at her home near Glendo on Dec. 17, 2006.
She was born April 29, 1934, in Milwaukee, Wis., to Peter David and Cecilia Theresa(Rech)Schimp. She was reared and educated in Milwaukee and graduated from Bayview High School in Milwaukee.
On Oct. 17, 1953, she married Allen J. Blackburn in Union Grove, Wis.
They moved from Wisconsin to Rawlins in 1981, then to Sparks, Nev., and Cheyenne before moving to Glendo six years ago.
She was a member of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod at the Zion Lutheran Church in Douglas and Trinity Lutheran Church in Cheyenne.
Mrs. Blackburn enjoyed cooking and baking, and she loved sending baked goods and care packages to her family in the U.S. Navy. She was a very loving person, and loved spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband Allen J. Blackburn of Glendo; children Denise Ann(Blackburn)Gonzales of Saint Charles, Mo., Paul Emsley Blackburn of Denver and Adam Peter Blackburn of Glendo; granddaughter Laralee Cecilia Gonzales of Saint Charles; and sisters Jeannette Bonnie(Schimp)Roenig of Union Grove, and Susan Ellen(Schimp)Roberts of Fond du Lac, Wis.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Peter David Schimp.
Serving as pallbearers will be Art Sims, Mike Petersen, John Bauder, Scott Muncy, Darrell Christensen and Adam Blackburn. Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Bart Adamson.
A memorial to the American Diabetes Associating, 4910 South Ash Street, Casper, WY 82601, would be appreciated by the family.
Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and at the church prior to the service on Saturday from 10-11 a.m.
