Douglas Budget - May 9, 2007A celebration of the life of Gene Blanton, 59, will be conducted at 2 p.m. May 11 at the First Christian Church in Wheatland with Pastor Andy Gudahl and Pastor John Johnson officiating. Inurnment will be in the Wheatland Cemetery.
He died May 6, 2007, at the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Mr. Blanton was born Nov. 14, 1947, in Wheatland, the son of David Thomas and Bonnie(DuVall)Blanton Sr. He was reared and educated in Wheatland. Mr. Blanton married Barbara A. Spaulding on July 30, 1966, in Wheatland. During the years, he worked for the town of Wheatland, Wilson Brothers Ready Mix, Lindstrom's Ready Mix, during the summer of 1989 he worked on road construction, and in April 1990, he began working for the Wyoming Highway Department as a diesel mechanic, retiring July 4, 2006.
Mr. Blanton was a member of the Wheatland Moose Lodge and was a past volunteer fireman. He enjoyed woodworking, but his greatest pleasure was his family, especially the grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Barb of Wheatland; two children, Dana Harris of Wheatland and Connie and husband, Clint Nystul of Douglas; brother, Dewey Blanton of Wheatland; four sisters, Mary and husband, Bob Jenkins of Wheatland, Bonnie and husband, Russ Towner of Douglas, Tina Morrell of Torrington and Joyce and husband, Dave Yacco of Wheatland; and four grandchildren, Anthony Harris and Karlie Gene Harris both of Wheatland and Marchi Nystul and Peyton Nystul both of Douglas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, David Blanton.
Honorary pallbearers will be all of his family and close friends.
Memorials to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
