Carl 'Leroy' Butler
Douglas Budget - December 19, 2007Funeral services for Carl "Leroy" Butler, 75, were held Dec. 15 at Gorman Funeral Homes - Converse Chapel with Pastor Frank Wiederrecht of The Gathering officiating. Mr. Butler was laid to rest at the Douglas Park Cemetery.
Mr. Butler, of Chandler, Ariz., died Dec. 10, 2007, at Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa, Ariz., with his family by his side. The Lord will now tend for Leroy, relieving him of his suffering.
Leroy was born on July 31, 1932, in Atwood, Okla., to Goldie Marie (Rayburn) and Carl Leonard Butler. He attended schools in Moss, Atwood and Wetumka, Okla., before entering the U.S. Air Force in 1949. Leroy served his country for four years until 1953, ending with the rank of SPC Sgt.
He moved to Douglas, where he began working in the oilfield. On Jan. 25, 1958, he married Patricia Ann Heimsoth in Douglas. Throughout his life, Leroy worked in the oilfield, was part owner of Casper Concrete and was happiest when he was driving a truck. His jobs took him and his family to places in Montana, Colorado and Wyoming.
Leroy is survived by his wife Patricia of Chandler; daughter Debra and husband Tim Hiner of Casper; sons John Butler and wife Rebecca of Cheyenne and Mike Butler of Chandler; grandchildren Britney, Jared, Brendan and Shelby; sisters Ophelia Hooper of Wetumka, Clara Hampton of Amarillo, Texas, Virginia Bachus of Riverton and Louise Mason of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and brothers Dean Butler of Red Lodge, Mont., Claude Butler of Cromwell, Okla., and Kenneth Butler of Bakersfield, Calif.
Leroy was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Gertrude Waddell.
Leroy loved the outdoors and sports, especially when it included his family. He enjoyed and spent much of his time working but it was always so he could provide for his family. As his health deteriorated, it was evident his inability to provide weighed heavy on his heart. He was dedicated and committed to his values and beliefs in caring for his family, something everyone admired.
Pallbearers were John Butler, Michael Butler, Jared Butler, Brendan Butler, Wray Lovitt, Travis Heimsoth, Craig Lovitt, Cody Heimsoth.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dean Butler, Claude Butler, Kenneth Butler, and Tim Hiner.
Gorman Funeral Homes - Converse Chapel of Douglas was in charge of the arrangements.
