Douglas Budget - December 28, 2005Funeral services for Ft. Laramie resident Theodore "Earl" Bowman, 79, were Dec. 26 at First Christian Church in Wheatland, with Pastor Bob Frye of Guernsey United Presbyterian Church officiating.
Interment was in the Wheatland Cemetery.
Mr. Bowman died Dec. 22 at Memorial Hospital of Converse County.
He was born Jan. 9, 1926, at the Bowman family homestead at Dwyer to Elizabeth(Kissel) and Joseph N. Bowman. He was reared and received his elementary education at Dwyer and graduated from Guernsey-Sunrise High School in 1945.
Mr. Bowman married Jacqueline Mae Latta on Nov. 23, 1947, in Fort Laramie. He loved farming and ranching in the Dwyer area north of Wheatland with his brother, George. He worked on the building of the Glendo Dam and I-25, for the railroad, as a school bus driver and for CF&I-Sunrise Mine. In his retirement years, he worked 10 years at the Guernsey Golf Course.
He and his wife moved to Guernsey in 1990 and to Ft. Laramie in 2002. Mr. Bowman enjoyed tinkering and reading. He was a member of Guernsey United Presbyterian Church where he was a deacon.
He was an avid fan of the Wyoming Cowboys and the St. Louis Cardinals.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years of Ft. Laramie; children Jim and wife Marilyn Bowman of Lewisville, Texas, Vicki and husband Jim Bowsher of Ft. Laramie, Jon Bowman of North Platte, Neb., Randy and wife Becky Bowman of Cheyenne, and Biff and husband Ross Gorman of Douglas; sister Betty Winkler of Mesa, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Louise Tittle and Jessie Ennis; brothers Joe Bowman Jr. and George Bowman; and two-great-grandsons.
Serving as pallbearers were Ron Gilson, Jack Joecks, Bob Fletcher, Gale Rutherford, Chuck Frederick and Joe Hohnholt. Honorary pallbearers were Bill Call, Roland Brown, Harold Rexius, Frank Jones, Arnie Cancino and Jarvis Windom.
