Douglas Budget - October 25, 2006Funeral services for Clarence "Clancy" Bishop, 78, were held Oct. 21 at Glenrock Middle School Auditorium, with Mr. Johnny Horton officiating.
Interment was in the Glenrock Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Wyoming Army National Guard.
Mr. Bishop, a resident of Glenrock, died Oct. 16, 2006, at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper after suffering a major stroke three weeks earlier and developing pneumonia.
Mr. Bishop was born on Dec. 1, 1927, in Saint Louis, Mo. He moved to Glenrock as a child and worked in the community for Pacific Power and Light. After retirement, he worked various jobs, including Wal-Mart as a store greeter, and continued to preach for the Church of Christ, which he did for more than 30 years. Mr. Bishop was also a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army.
On June 3, 1949, he married the love of his life, Betty Ann Lampman, in Glenrock. They raised two daughters, Paula and Lois. His hobbies included anything to do with animals, rock hunting, jewelry making, and just being with his friends and family.
Mr. Bishop is survived by his wife Betty; daughters Paula Stewart and her husband Brad and Lois Svrko and her husband Floyd, all of Glenrock; grandchildren Cassy Stewart of Glenrock, Beau Stewart of Santa Barbara, Calif., Heather Basinger of Bailey, Colo., Travis Svrko of Spanaway; great-grandchildren Jordan Stewart of Glenrock and Coral Basinger of Bailey, Krysten Svrko, Aliscia Svrko and Bryant Svrko, all of Spanaway; and multiple nieces and nephews.
Mr. Bishop was preceded in death by his mother, Mamie Harland; father Condy Bishop; step-father Mark Harland; brothers Frank Bishop, Wilbur Bishop, Ellis Bishop, Lee Bishop and Leonard Bishop, Lee Bishop and Leonard Bishop; and sisters Edna Hersey, Mary Raines and Hazel Bishop.
Serving as pallbearers were Brad Stewart, Bruce Johnson, Kyle St. Clair, Jens Jensen, Bob Hildebrand and Jory Turk.
Serving as honorary pallbearers were Beau Stewart, Travis Svrko, Louie Svrko, Floyd Svrko and Marvin Wilkerson.
