Douglas Budget - August 13, 2008Dorothy Louise Bettencourt, 75, died Aug. 9, 2008. At the time of death, she was a patient of Memorial Hospital of Converse County.
Service will be at Douglas Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Aug. 14.
She was born on Sept. 14, 1932, in Butte, Mont., to John Asbury Johnson and Martha Agnes Lovell. She was a resident of Glendo.
Dorothy grew up in Packwood, Iowa, where she graduated from high school. The family moved to Casper in 1956. Dorothy moved to Douglas with her four children in 1974, and she worked at Broken Wheel Truck Stop for 23 years. She enjoyed watching football and baseball, fishing and being with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include daughters Kathy Branum, and husband of Glendo, Teri Bettencourt of Douglas, Connie Bettencourt of Douglas; son Michael Bettencourt and Wife of Black River Falls, Wisc.; sister Nina Adams of Casper; brothers Harold Johnson and wife of Wheatland, Howard Johnson and wife of Pine Haven, James Johnson and wife of Hot Springs, S.D.; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother and sister Ruth Maser.
Newcomer Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
