Douglas Budget - August 13, 2008A memorial service and reception for Stephen Michael Barelle, 39, of Douglas was held Aug. 8 at the Douglas Senior Citizens Center.
A private memorial service preceded the reception held to celebrate his life. He was laid to rest at Highland Cemetery in Casper.
Stephen died Aug. 4, 2008, at Wyoming Medical Center after suffering a heart attack.
He was born Aug. 1, 1969, in Casper to Joseph Barelle and Laurella (Simpson)Barelle Nymeyer. He was the youngest of their six children.
He attended schools in Casper, including Natrona County High School, and earned his GED before attending post-secondary institutions.
He married Nita Coy in the mid-1980s, and they had three children, Shawn, Sascha, and Stephen Barelle.
He and Nita later divorced, but remained good friends, and Stephen married Tammy Stortz in 1996. He and Tammy had three children, Sequoia, Tyler and Matthew, and Stephen cared for his step-son, Brandon, as his own.
Shawn and Sequoia died in early childhood, and Stephen's cremains will be placed next to his two children at Highland Cemetery in Casper.
Stephen worked as a carpet installer most of his adult life, though had varied jobs as well, until he became disabled. H loved well, until though had varied jobs as well, until he became disabled. He loved music, was an incredible singer and won trip to Disneyland in a karoake contest in Casper, played numerous instruments and recorded his and others' music for many years.
He was a loving father, brother, son and friend who will be missed by all who knew him, especially by his children, who adored him.
He is survived by his wife Tammy and children Brandon, Tyler and Matthew of Douglas; children Sascha and Stephen of Battle Mountain, Nev.; mother Laurella "Cindy" Nymeyer of Douglas; father Joseph Barelle of Casper; sisters Brenda Dangel of Phoenix, Ariz., and Lisa (Matt)Adelman of Douglas; and brothers Allen (Michelle) of Gillette and David (Jeanie) and Gary (Anita) of Casper.
He was preceded in death by his son Sean; daughter Sequois; step-father Ralph Nymeyer; and step-mother Laverne Davis Barella.
